The world health organization is the world’s
largest organization that is working and devoted to the improvement of the
human’s health. It is currently working for national and international public
health. The world health organization is an agency of United Nation. It was
founded on 7 April 1948 and had been signed by 63 countries. It’s headquartered
in Geneva Switzerland. Its Current director General is Tedros Adhamon. World
health organization has 194 members from different countries. World health
organization members’ states appoint delegations to world health assembly. The
world health Assembly (WHA) is the main and supreme body of world health
organization. It appoints the Director- General in every five years and votes
on matters of policy and finance of world health organization, including the
proposed budget. The Assembly elects 34 members from technically qualified in
the field of health. The current chairman of the executive board is Dr.Assad
Hafeez.
The world health is financed by
contributions from member’s states and outsider donors. As 2012 the largest
annual fund contributions came from United States. United States paid almost
110 million dollars annually. Japan is second highest paid country they paid 58
million dollars, Germany 37 million dollars paid for it.
The main objective and aim of the
organization is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of
health. The organization works for communicable diseases such as sexual and reproductive
health of public. The world health organization is responsible for the
worldwide health survey and world health day. World health organization calls
for urgent action for fight against dangerous diseases like TB. According to
their report a child under 15 dies every 5 second around the world. That’s why
the organization primary role is to direct and coordinate with international
health, and their main areas of work are health system, health through the
life-course, fight against communicable, non-communicable diseases. World health organization aim to improve
equity in health, reduce health risk promote healthy life style. They want to
improve knowledge about maintaining good health. It has means reach out to
people with information and health promotion. According to recent report world
health organization is working against Ebola virus. Ebola disease spreads only
by direct contact with the blood or other body fluids of a person who has
developed symptoms of the disease. It
spreads through the saliva, mucus, vomit, urine, and semen. Ebola virus is one
of the five known viruses, four of five known Ebola viruses.
It is caused the majority of human deaths,
and it is primary transmitted between human to animals through body fluids. The
world health origination works to prevent Ebola outbreaks by maintaining
surveillance for Ebola virus disease and supporting at-risk countries to
developed preparedness plans. They are providing complete guidance to control
of Ebola virus.
